Frequently asked questions

What Familienplaner costs, how events from emails get into the calendar, what the AI receives from them, how voice input works and what the family display can do: the answers are on the home page at familienplaner.app/en#faq.

What has been added recently is at familienplaner.app/en/updates, and tips for everyday family life are in the guides at familienplaner.app/blog (in German).

Signing in and your account

  • Forgotten your password: at familienplaner.app/forgot-password you get a link by email with which you set a new password.
  • No email to confirm your address? Check your spam folder. After signing in, you can request it again with “Send confirmation email”.
  • Downloading your data: on the web in the settings under “Your data”, the events as a calendar file or spreadsheet and all data as a file.
  • Deleting your account: how it works, what is deleted and what remains is explained at familienplaner.app/en/konto-loeschen.
  • Withdrawing from the contract: as a consumer, you can withdraw from your contract at familienplaner.app/en/widerruf; the period and everything else are set out in the Terms and Conditions, section 11.

Running the family display around the clock

This keeps a tablet on the family display day and night. The menus are named a little differently depending on the device and version.

  • Power: Leave the tablet on its charger. If it offers a charging limit that protects the battery, turn it on.
  • iPad: Under Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access, turn on Guided Access and set a passcode under “Passcode Settings”. Also under “Guided Access”, set “Display Auto-Lock” to “Never”. Then open the display in Safari, triple-click the top button (the Home button on older iPads) and tap “Start”. Guided Access ends the same way: triple-click, enter the passcode and tap “End”.
  • Android: In the settings under “Security”, usually under “Advanced”, turn on app pinning; some manufacturers name it differently or put it elsewhere. Open the display in the browser, go to the overview of your apps, tap the browser’s icon at the top and then “Pin”.
  • Screen awake: Where the browser can do it, the display keeps the screen awake itself; the line at the bottom then says “Keep screen awake: active”. If it says “not available”, set it on the tablet: on Android in the developer options, so that the screen stays on while charging; on iPad and Fire tablets, set the automatic lock to the longest time.
  • Brightness: The display does not set it. Set it on the tablet; many tablets can also adapt it to the light in the room automatically.
  • Rest and night: In the settings under “Family displays”, admins choose for each display the “Night view”, for example from 21:00 to 06:30, and “Rest when untouched”: off, or after 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes without a tap. The display then shows only a grey clock on black that moves to another spot every minute so that nothing burns in. A tap shows the calendar, at night for one minute, otherwise until nobody has touched it for that long again.
  • Cookies: The tablet’s browser must allow cookies, otherwise the tablet does not stay paired.
  • Saving power: The black view saves power only on OLED screens. On other screens the backlight stays on; the view is calmer all the same.
